About Chap’s Pit Beef

Chap’s Pit Beef, the most famous barbecue sandwich restaurant in Baltimore, all started with a $12,000 wedding gift for Donna Creager and her new husband Bob. The wedding gift came from Donna’s father, Gus Glava. Donna and Bob used the parking lot of a nightclub owned by Glava for their original Chap’s Pit Beef location.

Quickly after opening, it became apparent that the duo of Donna and Bob was a perfect match for the business. With Bob running the kitchen and Donna managing the staff, Chap’s Pit Beef was off and running. The restaurant offers many sandwiches such as

Chap’s Pit Beef has received national recognition for its exceptional sandwiches over the years. Chap’s Pit Beef was featured on Food Network’s Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. The shows host, Guy Fieri, claims Chap’s to have one of his favorite sandwiches. People Magazine awarded Chap’s Pit Beef with “The Best Sandwich in Every State”, and CBS Baltimore awarded them with “The Best Sandwiches in Baltimore”.

Outside of the original location, Chap’s Pit Beef has expanded its business to Glen Burnie, Aberdeen, and Rehobeth Beach. In September 2023, Chap’s announced their original location would be moving, but not far. The business moved right next door to a larger building with better seating.
