About Nacho Mama’s
Nacho Mama’s is a family owned Mexican restaurant in Baltimore since 1994. The founder of Nacho Mama’s, Sunny McCusker opened the restaurant in the Canton neighborhood, which is predominantly Polish.
As Scunny was preparing for opening, a local neighbor passerby inquired in a Baltimore accent “I downt know why yooz would owpen a Mexican restaurant here. There ain’t no Mexicans here, we’re all Powlish.” This led to the creation of Nacho Mama’s famous slogan “Where East Bawmer meets Mexico”.
Sunny passed away in 2012, and in 2017, a second Nacho Mama’s location was opened in Towson to continue his legacy. The Towson location is filled with memorabilia as a tribute to Sunny’s love of Natty Boh, Baltimore sports, and Elvis Pressley.
The cuisine at Nacho Mama’s can be described as Tex-Mex with a taste of Maryland, as crab and old bay are often featured in their dishes. From cheesy nacho platters to loaded burritos to crispy wings, Nacho Mama’s offers a delicious, unique style of Tex-Mex.
